Boost Local Competitiveness by Designing Service Futures
April 17, 2015
(Hong Kong, 16 April 2015) With rapid development of service industry and rise of social challenges and fierce competition brought by economic globalisation in recent years, how could Hong Kong’s service sector stand out and move forward? Knowledge of Design Week 2015 (KODW) is one of the opportunities for success. Organised by Hong Kong Design Centre, KODW is an annual week-long key programme aiming to provide an integrated perspective in the value of design for aspiring designers and business executives manifesting latest global trends in design and innovation research. KODW will be held from 8 to 12 June at Hotel ICON this year. A half price early bird offer ends on or before 30 April 2015.
Themed on “Designing Service Futures”, the annual week-long programme aims to enable a better future for service industry through service design innovation, and strives to create value of design via building creative confidence and strategic activation. KODW 2015 consists of three half-day conferences and four full-day, two half-day workshops. It will bring together over 20 international guests speaking across the interdisciplinary sub-themes of “Trends, Culture & Foresight” and “Designing Service Futures”. Covering the rich topics including trendspotting, big data analytics, seamless experience, spatial experience and new service models.
One of the featured speakers Tim Stock, co-founder of scenarioDNA and Part-Time Assistant Professor at Parsons the New School for Design, is an expert on consumer behaviour and cultural trends. He co-invented a patented methodology of “Culture Mapping” to analyse linguistic patterns in structured and unstructured data to uncover trend narratives and forecasts. His clients include Nike, IKEA, The Clorox Company and Russian Standard Vodka.
KODW has provided a valuable networking platform to pair up service providers with service users to build collaborative opportunities—matching global field experts and industry leaders to our target participants ranging from design practitioners, business leaders, design users (marketing, business development, strategy planning), SMEs and startups, academics, design educators and technologists. Interested parties can enjoy a half price early bird offer for online registration by the end of April. Online registration will be closed at 17:00 on 5 June 2015 (Hong Kong time). Registration after this date can only be made by walk-in at the event venue.
